The Wood-N-U Mail Box Design and Manufacturing Project
This page displays the Wood-N-U Mail Box Design and Manufacturing Project, a team-work assignment completed in the ETES 5030-7030 Manufacturing Course, in the Spring Semester 2009, at the University of Georgia, under the direction of Dr. Robert Wicklein. The name of the student team is “Wood-N-U Company;” and team members include Steven Griffingm, Daniel Benedict, Cale Caudell, Jason Bedgood and Edward Locke. The principal role of Edward Locke, the author of this website, is to create 3D models and 2D orthographic multi-view drawings of the mail box and related packaging materials and package, as well as those of the production fixtures and tooling in Autodesk Inventor, and to create packaging graphics in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The members of the student team conducted the entire process of product design using the standard procedures of engineering design, and manufactured 20 mail boxes using power tools available in University of Georgia College of Education facility (Technology & Engineering Design Lab, Room 106, River’s Crossing Building).
