Emgineering Graphics Quizzes & Exams
This page hosts the Quizzes and Exams for a Beginning Engineering Graphics course and an Intermediate Engineering Graphics course, both courses to be taught as a combo at a community college setting. The Beginning Engineering Graphics corresponds to Engineering 51 (Basic Technical Drawing) that I taught at Santa Ana College (2000-2007), a course designed for students with no high school drafting background (this course is based on hand drafting and sketching, plus the basics of AutoCAD drafting tools using a textbook by a community college teacher from Orange County, with easy to follow step-by-step procedures). The Intermediate Engineering Graphics corresponds to Engineering 125 (Engineering Graphics) that I taught at the same school, a course designed for students with some high school drafting background (this course is based on more advanced AutoCAD 2D drafting tools and settings although the first and second weeks are used to practice hand lettering and drafting). Notice that a Quiz on a series of related subjects is normally offered one week after the topic that cover the subjects has been covered through reading of textbook, attending classroom lecture and demonstration, and completing related exercises. Based on analysis of weekly quizzes, reviews of particular subjects are to be offered along the way or after the midterm. Quizzes are mostly in multiple-choice format although fill-ins and sketches could be included. Quizzes usually last 15 minutes; Midterm and Final Exams could last between thirty minutes and one hour. Quizzes and Exams make up 20 percent of the Final Grade. For those students who do not do well in some quizzes, an overall make-up is offered at the Final Exam. Quizzes and Exams are designed to test students’ mastery of the basics and to encourage them to read and review textbook chapters, Lecture Notes, and other handouts.
